Canali Boutique Los Angeles
A new expression of Italian tailoring in the heart of Beverly Hills
Between Rodeo Drive and Wilshire Boulevard, in the heart of Beverly Hills, Park designs the new flagship store for Canali in Los Angeles. Following the openings in New York, Beijing and Milan, the concept developed by Park for the brand finds a new interpretation here. The project completely renews the aesthetics, internal layout and façades, translating the codes of Italian tailoring into the luminous and rarefied language of the West Coast. The store is conceived as a representative space capable of combining excellence, elegance and harmony, the founding values of the brand, within a coherent and carefully calibrated environment where every element contributes to a measured and immersive experience, free from excess. The project is structured around two distinct entrances that offer complementary interpretations of the relationship between architecture and urban context. On Wilshire Boulevard, the main façade takes on a scenographic and monumental presence. Pilasters clad in Italian terrazzo with Verde Alpi marble inserts articulate the elevation, while a champagne colored perforated metal architectural skin overlays the surface like a contemporary drape. The façade vibrates in the natural light of Los Angeles, casting ever changing shadows and reflections and transforming the envelope into a dynamic device. The entrance on Rodeo Drive adopts a more intimate and refined tone. The threshold leads into a bright and welcoming space that unexpectedly opens onto generous volumes, revealing the spatial complexity of the boutique. Inside, two large double height spaces form the heart of the store. The transparency of the shop windows and the visual continuity with the exterior amplify the perception of space, flooding it with natural light. Between these volumes are the service areas, fitting rooms and a central lounge, a more private setting clad in warm wood paneling that hosts an Italian style bar conceived as a gesture of hospitality and a distinctive feature of the Canali experience. Above the lounge, a mezzanine accommodates the tailoring area. This is not only an operational function but also a symbolic place where the brand’s sartorial tradition becomes explicitly visible, revealing the artisanal heart that underpins the entire project. Material choices translate the language of bespoke menswear into architecture. Italian terrazzo flooring engages in dialogue with water sculpted marble surfaces that shift with the changing incidence of light. The wooden walls are punctuated by studs applied manually one by one, evoking the patient repetition of the tailoring gesture and restoring to the material the value of time and precision. Technology is integrated discreetly through a dynamic lighting system. Suspended rings at varying heights and a modular magnetic track allow for the creation of ever changing scenarios, adaptable to seasonal displays and installations. Custom designed furnishings can be configured and reconfigured as needed. Shelves and hanging rails can be repositioned freely, ensuring fluidity and flexibility within the exhibition space. The Los Angeles flagship represents a mature synthesis of the shared journey between Park and Canali. It is a place where architecture, fashion and the art of hospitality converge in a coherent, measured and deeply contemporary narrative. An environment that transforms the culture of tailoring into spatial experience, reaffirming the identity of a brand that makes artisanal excellence its defining hallmark.
