ATM Office Entrances
Recognizing the cultural and social value of everyday spaces
Recognizing the cultural and social value of everyday spaces (often considered marginal) means assigning them an active role in building collective identity and a sense of belonging. With this approach, Park oversaw the restyling of the ATM entrances at San Donato and Monte Rosa premises, two operational sites of great symbolic value for the city of Milan. ATM – Azienda Trasporti Milanesi – is the organization that keeps Milan moving every day. A complex system of people, vehicles, and infrastructures that ensures the mobility of millions of citizens, contributing silently but essentially to the city’s collective life. Collaborating with ATM allowed Park to listen to and interpret its civic mission and public-oriented ethos, translating it into a sober, recognizable architectural language that aligns deeply with the brand’s values.
San Donato: the face of training
In San Donato, home to the ATM Campus – a training and professional development center – Park reimagined the entrance as a space of welcome and representation. The removal of barriers and the creation of a unified, transparent environment mark the transition toward a place capable of expressing the company’s identity. The new façade, distinguished by the ATM logo, and the entrance pathway, designed as a subtle conical perspective, lead to an interior defined by custom-made wood panelling, integrated furnishings, and clean surfaces. The institutional colours – ATM orange and blue – interact with anthracite tones and essential materials such as melamine and matte alucobond. Outside, a dry garden completes the transformation, creating an orderly and welcoming atmosphere.
Monte Rosa: the operational core
The project in Via Monte Rosa involved one of ATM's main operational headquarters, which houses the integrated control center for Milan's metro and surface transport network. In this context, Park adopted a more austere and institutional language, in keeping with the site’s function and significance. The entrance is characterised by steel cladding and a new walkway introducing a perforated metal screen designed to conceal the side of the adjacent church and provide a more balanced visual transition. The existing façade is clad in smooth, steel-effect alucobond, highlighting the metallic ATM logo. Planters, canopies, and touches of greenery complete a refined and cohesive ensemble. Inside, elements shared with San Donato – such as the orange wood panelling, the reception desk, and the information totems – are combined with details designed by Park, including the Leva handles and Nebbia lamps, which emphasise the project’s quality even at the scale of the detail.
A shared language
In both entrances, a common intention emerges: to make architecture even within the everyday, restoring value and distinctiveness to workspaces. Park thus translates ATM's identity into environments capable of welcoming, guiding, and representing—a tangible expression of a company committed to serving the city, which accompanies collective life every day with responsibility and continuity.
