A seating collection characterised by geometric rigour and organic sinuosity
Helvetica is the first collection of chairs designed by Park Associati for Potocco, a historic Made in Italy company that has been manufacturing high-end chairs and furnishing accessories for more than a century.
Created in connection with interior design projects the practice is working on in Switzerland, the Helvetica collection features a strong contract style and a contemporary design characterised by balanced shapes and compact sizes that make them suitable for any contemporary living environment
Originating from a need to speak the language of wood, the Helvetica seat is made of ash and metal and features solid wood legs. It is available in two versions, one with a ‘bare’ backrest made of curved solid wood, the other with an added soft upholstering covered with the fabrics and leathers of the Potocco catalogue.
Acting as tenons, the plates connecting the chair’s component parts reveal their presence on the surfaces, where they become a graphic and decorative motif. The interaction between the two materials – wood and metal − results in a combination of tradition and innovation that conveys a sense of contemporaneity.
The Helvetica project involves expanding the range of product types, from stools to armchairs.
