Park Hub, Via Garofalo 31, Milan

Park Associati presents Micrographia – Redesign for Biodiversity, a set of three experimental works by the multidisciplinary design studio Johanna Seelemann, designed and created by invitation and with the production supervision of Park Associati, thanks to the collaboration of Ricehouse, Arche3d, Primat and with the scientific support of Vivaio Bicocca. The installation can be viewed at the Park Hub space from 16th to 21st April 2024.

Micrographia is an experimental investigation that aims at helping people start seeing things differently. Hooke’s book serves as a metaphor for the exhibition, suggesting a wider and more in-depth approach to product design, aimed at building a living environment that can be accessible to as many lifeforms as possible. In this perspective, Panettone bollards can be either used as paperweights or thrown into urban spaces around Milan as seed bombs, which, when blooming, will become pollinator food. Façade claddings can be employed as nests for birds and insects, and terracotta vases make an efficient watering system for plants in dry soils. Industrial aesthetics blends with mineral-based materials to show how co-use can be prototypical for the future.

How does Micrographia explore the concept on inclusive design?

How can we preserve urban biodiversity? The video series illustrates the research developed in Micrographia - Redesign for Biodiversity.

Following that experimental phase of Micrographia - Redesign for Biodiversity, Ricehouse has installed some Habitat Façade elements on the terraces of Torri Risorsa, in the building redevelopment area of the Barona district in Milan.

This very important first step in grounding the project will be monitored by Vivaio Bicocca during the summer heat peaks to assess its results and performance.
