Olive
Between memory and experimentation
Born from an essential gesture and a careful attention to the tactile quality of everyday objects, the knob Olive reinterprets a repertoire of shapes rooted in the history of Italian design with a contemporary perspective. The formal inspiration for the product draws on the work of Italian masters of interior design and on the explorations of the 1960s and 1970s. From these references, Olive emerges as a compact, soft, and balanced volume, where “imperfect sphericity” achieves its full expression, becoming the meeting point between line and surface to welcome the hand. The object presents itself as a small sculptural volume, designed to offer a natural interaction and a tactile sense of solidity and precision. As in many of Park’s projects, the design moves between memory and experimentation: the form evokes a tradition of designer objects, while the precision of the drawing and attention to detail bring it into a contemporary aesthetic, perfectly compatible with the high-quality industrial production that characterizes Dnd. Olive thus becomes a subtle yet recognizable sign, a small architectural element encapsulating the everyday gesture of opening and closing, transforming a simple action into a design experience.
