Carena
A compact desk where architectural clarity meets artisanal craftsmanship
Carena translates an essential architectural gesture into a piece of furniture defined by balance, material refinement, and understated presence. Designed by Park for Turri, the desk originates from a dialogue between design and craftsmanship, bringing together structural clarity and artisanal precision within a compact and versatile object. The concept draws inspiration from a hidden yet fundamental element of nautical design: the hull below the waterline, shaped to ensure stability and equilibrium. This reference is reinterpreted as an integrated modesty panel, becoming both a functional and formal component of the desk. The soft, continuous lines of the base and top define a volume that conveys solidity and lightness at once, while enabling a seamless transition between different uses, from writing to personal care. Conceived as an enveloping object, Carena brings together structure and surface in a single, coherent gesture. Its sculptural presence is balanced by a sense of intimacy, where proportions and materials contribute to a quiet, composed identity. The desk features a walnut wood top enriched by a leather edge, paired with a walnut base accented by a leather insert, expressing Turri’s expertise in craftsmanship and attention to detail. Through its compact dimensions and calibrated design, Carena adapts naturally to a variety of settings, functioning as a desk, a small home office, or a vanity table. The project reflects a shared approach between Park and Turri, where simplicity becomes a vehicle for depth, and where the language of design is rooted in both tradition and contemporary sensibility.
