The exhibition is the result of a collaboration between Park Associati and the two designers.
The world population's estimate to date comes close to eight billion people. Which scenarios are we going to experience in 2050, when the planet is likely to host ten billion inhabitants? Overpopulation increases inequality, resulting in a lower quality of life for people and a reduction of their vital physical space. Overtourism, a side effect of overpopulation, congests the most traditional tourist destinations, such as beaches, mountains, cities of art.
Drawing inspiration from Radical Design and Narrative Design, which explore and analyse possible future settings by creating speculative and often provocative scenarios, Mucciarone and Quinland develop their projects focusing on utopian/satirical and conceptual aspects and offer two responses to the emergencies that could characterise an overpopulated future in need of space.
