Design Technology

The Design Technology department at Park Associati is composed of a team of in-house BIM and Computational Design specialists that investigate and implement innovative digital design tools across the office in a collaborative manner.

Approach

Experimentation and collaboration are the two core principles driving the department, whose main objective is to support project teams in achieving efficient, informed, and collaborative design outcomes. The group works alongside other departments to develop digital tools and to implement innovative methodologies to manage the design process throughout the various design and construction phases, working from the urban to the product scale. In parallel, the department carries out applied research activities to investigate new opportunities for implementing workflows and organizes training sessions to spread the know-how within the practice.

The department supports the design teams dealing with complex design challenges by leveraging on its specific expertise in BIM and Computational Design.

BIM

Right from the early stages of the design process, Park Associati approaches the design using the BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology, aiming to an efficient management and coordination of project data among the various consultants involved in the process, across all stages of the design and construction phases.

The Design Technology department supports the design groups on a daily basis in order to guarantee compliance with quality standards and to achieve the overarching project objectives, aiming to deliver to the client a coherent digital model.

The adoption of the BIM methodology ensures an effective management of building data during the entire design and construction process and throughout the entire building life cycle.

Computational Design

The use of Computational Design digital tools applied to project workflows blends with the office ethos and design culture. The tools developed by the team are characterized by their innovative and technological features and aim to enable their collaborative and versatile use by each design team.

Among the various areas of application that are currently being implemented are: parametric models for design optioneering, workflow automation and software interoperability, tools for optimizing complex geometries and integrated environmental performance analysis.

By developing a set of in-house digital tools, we enable the design teams to quickly iterate through various solutions and to reach optimized and collaborative outcomes.
